La Ronge’s Hayden Penney will be taking his football talents to the provincial capital this coming season.
Penney, who is a running back, has signed with the Regina Thunder.
Penney, formerly of the La Ronge Churchill Chargers, says several people have helped him along the way in football.
“My coaches obviously, Gabe Andrews, Mr. Kyle Faulkner, Nate Shaw – they all were really instrumental in getting me where I am as a football player and as a person too,” said Penney.
Penney says in addition to playing football, he still plans to continue his studies.
“I went to Northlands (College) here this past year and I’m currently working on transferring to the U of R, even though I was doing U of R here at Northlands here in La Ronge,” said Penney.
The Thunder are a junior football team and play in the Prairie Conference of the CJFL.
