The province is reporting 13 new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan’s Far North region, most of which are believed to be linked to a recent wake and funeral on the Clearwater River Dene Nation.

The Saskatchewan and Northern Inter-Tribal health authorities issued a precautionary health advisory for the First Nation last week after infections were traced to the wake held on June 10 and funeral June 11.

The province reported a total of 18 new coronavirus cases Monday bringing the total in the province to 683.

Three of the new cases are in the Saskatoon region and two are individuals who live out-of-province but tested positive in Saskatchewan.

A total of 41 cases are considered active and 629 have recovered.

There is one person in inpatient care in the North region and one in intensive care in Saskatoon.
