The La Ronge Ice Wolves are gearing up for the SJHL Bantam Draft.

“I think what we’re going to do is try and get four forwards and three defencemen right now unless something else happens with a trade,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski.

La Ronge is coming off a fifth-place finish this past season with their 33-19-6 record and unlike the last three years, the Ice Wolves will not be selecting first, as the team holds the eighth overall selection. The Ice Wolves have seven picks heading into Friday’s draft.

Kaminski admits, he certainly relies on La Ronge Head Scout Rob Fiola and the rest of the scouting staff when it comes to the draft.

“He’s (Fiola) ready to go,” said Kaminski. “Every pick, he’s got three or four guys kind of targeted. If one is taken, then we go to the next one or he goes to the next one. Rob’s been around, his draft picks have been unbelievable. We trust him to do his job and we know he’s going to get us great draft picks.”

The Ice Wolves made five selections at the 2019 SJHL Bantam Draft.

This year’s draft will be available to watch on SaskTel maxTV, with things slated to get underway at 1 p.m. on Friday.
