The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency has issued a high water advisory for parts of the north.

The advisory applies to the Churchill River system east of Peter Pond Lake.

Officials say above normal precipitation has led to high water in central and eastern areas of the basin.

The wettest region is from Montreal Lake to La Ronge and up to Hatchet Lake.

The control structure at Lac La Ronge has been open since last week, but the lake level is above normal and continuing to rise.

Caution is advised in areas where there is swift moving water.

There could also be damage to property and infrastructure as more rain is expected over the coming days.
