Liquor outlets in La Loche have been temporarily closed.
A government press release says the northern village passed the resolution on Friday and it was approved by the province.
The temporary closure of liquor outlets took effect on Saturday and is for two weeks.
La Loche Mayor Robert St. Pierre and others say the sale of alcohol and persistence of house parties has made it more difficult to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The province says it will provide supports to community members with alcohol addictions and suffering from withdrawal.
