Mattey is from Chase, B.C. and he has spent the last three seasons playing for the Chase Heat in the KIJHL.

“I’m a skilled forward, I’m a smaller guy ,” said Mattey. “I try and play hard, and play a skilled game.”

Mattey recorded 47 points in 47 games this past season with the Chase Heat. In 139 regular season games with the Heat, Mattey has tallied 104 points.

“Gavin Mattey will bring speed, skill, grit and tenacious energy to the Ice Wolves,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski. “He has a high compete level, great character and pushes the pace to make everyone better. He’s just a very smart, well-rounded 200-foot player that hates to lose. We welcome Gavin to the Ice Wolves’ family.”

Mattey is the third player to commit to the Ice Wolves for the 2020-21 SJHL season.
