La Loche is mourning the death of an elder due to complications from COVID-19.
83-year-old Joseph Sylvestre died Sunday in North Battleford hospital.
Mayor Robert St. Pierre confirms that Sylvestre was a long-term care resident.
Sylvestre’s death is the fifth in province and the first in a long-term care facility.
The province has yet to confirm the death is coronavirus related.
