The Métis Nation-Saskatchewan has announced close to $3 million in funding as part of its emergency COVID-19 pandemic plan.

In a press release, the MN-S says the funding will go toward childcare supports, personal protective equipment and assisting Métis households who may be experiencing financial hardship because of the pandemic.

The organization says the money is the first part of a broader relief effort, which will include the remainder of the $7.25 million in funding from the federal government.

The MN-S says in the immediate term the money will be used to help Métis families who are experiencing cost-of-living hardships because of COVID-19 and assisting parents who are struggling with daycare closures.
