An Indigenous curling team has booked its ticket to the 2020 Masters Men’s Provincial Curling Championship in Estevan.

The rink features Lawrence Corrigal, Bob Desjarlais, Keith Goulet and Robert Kytwayhat. The foursome earned a spot following the northern qualifiers in Spiritwood.

“There was a lot of big-time players that were in and the other players too were pretty stiff competition, but we were able to make it through,” said Keith Goulet.

Goulet says his team is making history by qualifying for the event.

“We were pretty excited,” said Goulet. “This was the first all-Indigenous team to make it. The other thing is that we’ve been trying for so many years. Especially for myself, I’m going to be 74 years old in April.”

The 2020 Masters Men’s Provincial Curling Championship takes place from March 12-15 at the Estevan Curling Club.
