The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) has created a scavenger hunt to help clean up the community.

Francis Ratt and April Bird at the Lac La Ronge Indian Band housing department will give out clues to those who pick up grocery bags of garbage. The clues provide a variety of different tasks for participants to complete.

Ratt is a tenant relations officer for public works and housing at the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, she says residents have to show pictures to prove what they have cleaned.

The scavenger hunt began on Monday and has a total of ten clues.

“The goal is to make our community beautiful,” said Ratt. “Stanley Mission did something similar to clean up their community which is where the idea came from.”

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band plans to hold the hunt until the end of this month.

The first person to finish the scavenger hunt will win $300. Second place will receive $200 and the prize for third is $100.

All participants who reach the fifth clue will have their name entered in a draw for a chance to win a gift certificate.

The prizes are coming out of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s budget.

“It’s just an initiative to get people to clean up, added Ratt. “We’re trying to make the community better.”
