Former NHLer Reggie Leach will be in Flin Flon in a couple weeks.

Leach will be helping out with a youth hockey camp from Aug. 19-23 at the Whitney Forum.

“Just being in their company and seeing how well they do on the ice, how talented they are and always trying to push them in the right direction,” said Leach. “To me, that’s a great honour for myself to be on the ice with these kids. I learn from them, I see what they do, what communities they are from.”

Leach was recently named to the Order of Canada.

“Back in November, I got inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame and then in the first week of June, I got an honourary doctorate degree from Brock University,” said Leach.

“Then, all of a sudden, I get another call in June – June the 28th, I got inducted into the Order of Canada. The Order of Canada is very special to me because it’s an award that I received that I dedicated to all of our First Nations people across the country and to all of the northern people.”

Leach played 934 games in the NHL with Boston, California, Philadelphia and Detroit. During his NHL career, Leach tallied 666 points and 387 penalty minutes.

Meantime, if you need more information about the hockey camp, you can visit the camp’s website.
