Sucker River’s Dade Bernatchez continues to impress on the golf course this year.

Bernatchez, who plays on the Maple Leaf Junior Tour, finished first this past weekend at a peewee event in Warman.

He shot a 71 on the first day before carding a 75 on the final round. The 12-year-old finished five shots better than Warman’s Dane Giesbrecht. Bernatchez says his putting was key.

“My putting was the best that it has been and my approaches were really great,” said Bernatchez.

Bernatchez has now qualified for the 2019 MJT Boston Pizza National Championship in Florida, which runs Nov. 8-10.

It has been quite the summer for Bernatchez, who also won an event in Swift Current earlier this year. He also earned silver in a team event at the Tony Cote First Nations Summer Games.
