The La Ronge Ice Wolves have signed another player.

The Ice Wolves have agreed to terms with 2000-born defenceman Sawan Gill for the upcoming season.

“I’m a two-way defenceman, I really like to jump up into the rush,” said Gill. “I think I can move the puck really well and I think I can run a power play good too.”

The Calgary, AB product recorded 24 points in 47 games this past season in the KIJHL with the Fernie Ghostriders. In eight playoff games, he had five points.

“I talked to coach Kevin Kaminski and I know he has a lot of experience with the game,” said Gill. “I really wanted to help out La Ronge and try to make a playoff push. I thought I had the best opportunity of playing here (La Ronge) and doing well.”

Gill is the seventh new player to commit to the Ice Wolves for the 2019-20 season.

It’s been a busy week for the Ice Wolves, they shipped goaltender Jordan Frey to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the AJHL Wednesday in exchange for 2000-born defenceman Michael Bentz and a player development fee.

Meantime, the Ice Wolves will open the pre-season on Sept 5. in Saskatoon versus the Kindersley Klippers.
