The La Ronge Ice Wolves boosted their lineup Tuesday with the signing of 20-year-old forward Daylon Mannon for the upcoming SJHL season.

Mannon spent the 2018-19 season in the NAHL with the Maryland Black Bears. In 49 regular season games, the Fresno, CA, product had 32 points and 74 penalty minutes.

“I like to score goals and use my teammates, I just got to click with my line,” said Mannon. “It’s my last year of playing junior, so I just have to enjoy the moment. For the team goal, obviously we’d like to win a championship. I know there’s a lot of 1999-born players on the team, so I know it’s going to be our last year, so we want to make it count.”

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Mannon torched the opposition in the WSHL during the 2017-18 campaign when he suited up for the Fresno Monsters. In 51 games, Mannon had 150 points. Mannon will be reunited with Kevin Kaminski, who served as his coach in Fresno.

“I was told when I took the job in La Ronge that the team lacked scoring, so the first guy on my mind was Daylon Mannon. He’s a gifted goal scorer. He has a knack to find the seams and put himself into great opportunities to finish and doesn’t miss very many,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski.

“He has great character and hockey IQ, loves the game, loves to score and has a lot fun doing it. I’m excited to be coaching him again, as I know what he can do and how hard he works to get better every day.”

Meantime, the Ice Wolves now have five new players committed to the team for the 2019-20 season, which will kick off in mid-September.
