Former La Ronge Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Bob Beatty has a new job.

Beatty is joining the AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons as an associate coach for the upcoming season.

“I’m excited to come to Fort McMurray and join a very respected organization,” said Beatty in a news release. “The Oil Barons are always competitive within the AJHL and have a proven track record of moving players on to the next level. I look forward to working with Dave (Dupas) and the rest of his staff this season.”

Beatty spent nine seasons as the head coach and general manager of the Ice Wolves. He guided the team to back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. Beatty also won an SJHL championship and RBC Cup with the Humboldt Broncos in 2003.

“We’re excited to welcome Bob to our organization,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Dave Dupas in a news release. “Bob’s an experienced coach that has won on Junior A’s highest stage. His knowledge and coaching experience will be extremely valuable to our organization as we gear up for the season ahead.”

For the last two seasons, Beatty has been working at Shawnigan Lake School in B.C. as the head coach of the bantam prep team.
