Police say for all intense purposes the investigation into the death of Brennan Ahenakew is closed.

The remains of the 20-year-old man were found in a burned-out vehicle last May on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

RCMP Corporal Rob King says the force agrees with a coroner’s report which rules Ahenakew’s death was accidental and he died of smoke inhalation and burns.

The report also says the fire was caused by a single vehicle collision.

Ahenakew’s mother Lisa Johnstone has maintained she believes her son’s death was caused by foul play.
