A 23-year-old man from the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is facing impaired driving charges after a collision on New Year’s Day involving an ambulance and another vehicle.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., RCMP were called to a collision on the Debden grid road, about six kilometres north of Highway 790 on the Ahtahkakoop reserve.
The ambulance, belonging to Big River EMS, was responding to a call on the reserve when it was hit head-on by the vehicle.
The EMS attendants in the ambulance were not injured but the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
RCMP say the driver of the vehicle allegedly showed signs of impairment and was taken into police custody.
Bradley Jamie Isbister has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol and exceeding 80 mg of alcohol within two hours of operating a conveyance.
He is scheduled to appear in Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation Court on Feb. 11.
