The Prince Albert Grand Council kicked off its annual assembly Monday morning.

In the next two days, delegates will elect a new Athabasca vice-chief.

Joseph “Smy” Tsannie is running for re-election against Colleen Whitedeer.

Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte and Vice-Chief Christopher Jobb do not face re-election until next year.

A number of resolutions will also be discussed and debated and there is a special ceremony in honour of survivors of last December’s Fond du Lac plane crash on Monday afternoon.

The assembly is taking place at the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre in Prince Albert.

PAGC has 12 member First Nations.
