A man from the Sakimay First Nation has been charged after a vehicle and pedestrian collision on the reserve resulted in the death of a 57-year-old male early Sunday morning.

Broadview RCMP say the male was fatally hit by the vehicle sometime around 12:18 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene but was later located by police in a residence on the reserve.

Kip Acoose has been charged with one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving death.

He is due to appear in Broadview Provincial Court on Wednesday.
