The La Ronge Ice Wolves are putting on a youth hockey camp this week at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

The Ice Wolves were expecting around 60 participants.

“I’m looking forward to kind of getting that back up and running here,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Evan Vossen. “You know, getting some of the players up here early to help out with the kids in camp – bringing in a power skating instructor, those sorts of things.”

This particular hockey camp has returned following an absence, but the Ice Wolves say it is important.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to get involved with minor hockey,” said Vossen. “We have kids coming from some of the surrounding communities, so I think just kind of getting hockey going and up and running, and hopefully trying to grow that a little bit up here in the north.”

The camp is slated to come to a close on Friday afternoon.

Meantime, the La Ronge Ice Wolves will open training camp on Friday.
