A Prince Albert grandmother featured in a new SGI impaired driving awareness campaign is pleading with people to think twice before getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.

On July 14, 2013 Josie Ledoux’s daughter Brandy Lepine was struck and fatally injured by an impaired driver. Lepine was pregnant and delivered her daughter Aurora prematurely via emergency C-section.

“Don’t let what happened to me happen to you to affect your family. They’re the ones being left behind missing you,” Ledoux said.

The 31 second video shows several images of Aurora and the health complications she has suffered as a result of the impaired driving collision.

Ledoux says it means a lot to be a part of the SGI campaign. She says her and her husband watched the video and cried.

“They [pictures of Aurora] are just touching. Those are memories that I will never get back. Those are memories that we shared, those are memories that are gone,” Ledoux stated.

Aurora died earlier this year at the age of four from the lifetime of health complications due to the impaired driving crash.

“I need people to be aware that it doesn’t only happen to any other family, it happens to all families who are affected by drinking and driving,” Ledoux explained.

The video can be watched on the SGI website through the “People Shouldn’t Disappear” campaign.
