An elderly La Ronge man had to be rescued by helicopter Thursday after being separated from his wife while wild mushroom picking in the area earlier this week.
RCMP say the 73-year-old man had gone missing while picking mushrooms in the Wapawekka area.
Police and the La Ronge Rangers and Civilian Air Search and Rescue mounted a search, locating the experienced woodsman at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday.
However, he was too weak to walk out of the area and was airlifted back to La Ronge, where he was assessed as weak and dehydrated, but otherwise in good condition.
