The Jays Care Foundation northern Saskatchewan tour kicked off Monday in La Ronge.

Kids were able to take part in a baseball skills session and a community baseball game.

Callie Bowman is with the Jays Care Foundation. She says the focus isn’t just on baseball.

“We try and add in a number of life skills — like leadership, teamwork, communication,” said Bowman. “Just developing that love of sport through playing baseball.”

Bowman also says the experience in La Ronge has been great.

“The kids are awesome and so excited and ready to play each day,” said Bowman. “We’re excited for the rest of the week to meet even more kids, but if it’s anything like this morning has been, it will definitely be a good time.”

The tour heads to Hall Lake on Tuesday. Other stops on the tour include Grandmother’s Bay, Stanley Mission and Little Red.
