RCMP say two Uranium City men on their way to Fort Chipewyan by boat have been located safe after being reported missing.

People were concerned the men may not be equipped for the journey.

Fond-du-Lac RCMP say the men were reported missing June 9. Mounties say they contacted an outfitter and a search and rescue team to help locate the men.

On June 11, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the men were observed waving at a search plane at Lobstick Point on Lake Athabasca, close to the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.

The coordinates were relayed to RCMP, where two officers and a member of the Canadian Rangers went by boat to rescue the missing boaters.
