The Métis Nation and the federal government today, signed a news skills and employment accord worth $625,369,476 over ten years.

The funding will be used to implement the new Métis National Labour Market Strategy, designed to enhance employment services, skills development, and job training for the Métis Nation.

This is the first agreement under the Canada-Métis Nation Accord, signed in 2017.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Métis National Council President Clément Chartier, and the Presidents of the MNC Governing Members at the annual Crown-Métis Nation Summit.

The leaders discussed topics including education, health, Métis veterans, the new fiscal relationship, child and family services, economic development, environment, clean growth, and infrastructure.
