The husband of a northern Saskatchewan First Nations chief has been committed to stand trial in a historical sexual assault case.

Fifty-five-year-old Raymond Morrison is facing old Criminal Code charges of buggery, indecent assault and sexual assault of two males between 1981 and 1983 in Dillon.

A trial date has yet to be set.

Meanwhile, Morrison is also facing charges of indecent assault, gross indecency and overcoming resistance to commit an indictable offence against another male in 1981. That case is in the early stages of court proceedings with Morrison due back in court in Dillon in July.
