Several members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, including quarterback Brandon Bridge, will be in La Ronge in May.

The Riders in attendance will be working as guest coaches for the Northern Football Jamboree, which is a football camp in the north intended to introduce students to the game.

“When they see some of the players that they hear about on TV, or see on TV playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, it really means a lot to the players and also the coaches,” said Mark Williment with the Northern Lights School Division. “We’re really looking forward to this opportunity.”

Quarterback Brandon Bridge is the only member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders that has been confirmed for the event, but four other members of the Riders will be announced at a later date.

“We are understanding that these will be some of the bigger names on the team,” said Williment. “I can’t really identify who they may be, but we are looking forward to having the best players out there.”

The Northern Football Jamboree is scheduled for May 11-13 at Churchill Community High School in La Ronge.
