The Junior Winter Games, put on by the Northern Lights School Division, have come to a close in Cumberland House.

Students from Grades 6 to 9 took part in the action. The northern students competed in various sports, as well as arts and cultural events.

“The students loved it,” said Aaron Fosseneuve, the vice principal at Charlebois Community School. “The number one thing that everyone loved was the food, first of all — the hospitality and just the good atmosphere.”

Charlebois Community School finished first with 41 medals, Pinehouse Lake came in second with 37 and La Ronge rounded out the top three with 24 medals.

Fosseneuve says the games have been running for the last 30 years.
