A new poll by Insightrix indicates 70 per cent of social media users in Saskatchewan have witnessed racial bigotry on social media.

The poll found that 55 per cent of Saskatchewan social media users indicate they have seen someone, other than themselves, harassed on social media.

When asked what types of harassment they have witnessed others experience on social media, 70 per cent report witnessing racial harassment — which is the most common type of harassment reported.

Meanwhile, 21 per cent of Saskatchewan social media users report having once been a victim of harassment on social media themselves.

Those most likely to indicate they have been a victim of harassment on social media are those aged 18 to 34 years old at 36 per cent and those of Indigenous ancestry at 32 per cent.

Insightrix says a total of 804 randomly-selected Saskatchewan residents participated in the online research study between February 5 and February 8.
