A lone male was arrested Monday morning after RCMP Emergency Response and Crisis Negotiation and Containment teams were called to a residence on Big River First Nation on Sunday.

The situation began when RCMP responded to a complaint of a distraught male in a residence in the community at around 6:30 pm on Sunday evening.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers called for support after being made to believe that there might be firearms inside the residence.

12 hours after initially receiving the complaint, a man exited the house and was taken into custody.

Investigations are continuing between Big River RCMP and General Investigation and Forensic Identification sections. Charges have not yet been laid.
