Cameco has reported another loss for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31.

Earnings were lower than 2016 because of lower uranium prices.

For the last quarter, Cameco reports a $62 million net loss.  In the same quarter the previous year, the net loss was $144 million.

Cameco is reporting a net loss of $205 million for the year and adjusted net earnings of $59 million.

In 2016, the company had a net loss of $62 million and adjusted net earnings were $143 million.

Through the month of January, the McArthur River and Key Lake operations were brought into a safe shutdown state.

About 845 workers were laid off and are expected to be without work for ten months.

A date for re-opening of the two operations has not been announced.
