A 44-year-old man from Pelican Narrows has died in the northern community’s RCMP detachment cells.
RCMP say the man was found unresponsive in his cell yesterday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Very few details have been released on the incident, but the RCMP say the Prince Albert Police Service will be conducting an investigation into the man’s death.
They also say the Ministry of Justice has been appointed as an independent observer in the matter.
The name of the man who died is not being released at this time.
