An event looking to honour businesses and individuals who make the tri-community area a better place to live is coming to La Ronge later this year.

The La Ronge Chamber of Commerce is hosting a tri-community awards gala at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre on March 17.

“Many groups, organizations and individuals in the community give back in so many ways,” said local Chamber of Commerce President, Matt Klassen. “So I think it is really important that we recognize them.”

Klassen says ten awards will be given out under several different categories.

The awards include citizen of the year, leader of the year, non-profit organization of the year, youth and sports involvement, youth involvement, business of the year, as well as retail, restaurant, contractor and automotive business of the year.

“We are trying to cover a broad range of businesses and individuals,” said Klassen.

Nominations can be made by finding the nomination form on the chamber website.

Those nominations must be put forward by February 15, with the winners of each category announced at the awards gala.
