The owners of the new Dairy Queen restaurant in La Ronge are pleased with the response they have been getting on opening day.

The DQ Grill & Chill opened its doors this morning, and dozens of people turned out for the experience.

Co-owner and manager, Christina Hawkins, says the job of hiring staff and preparing the franchise has gone well.

“We had an awesome team — working together to get the building up and ready for staff,” said Hawkins. “We hired a great group of staff members, both full-time and part-time, and everyone is very excited to get started today.”

Hawkins says she thinks the location near the highway will be appreciated by customers, along with the fact that the DQ will be open seven days a week.

The La Ronge location is now DQ’s northernmost outlet in Saskatchewan. The DQ restaurant in Nipawin previously held that distinction.
