NDP MLAs Nicole Rancourt and Doyle Vermette were in La Ronge Monday evening to address grievances of increased property taxes.

Some residents of the community claim their taxes have gone up 100 per cent this year.

“We learned that the issue is the properties were not assessed properly the last time in 2013,” said Rancourt. “If they see that in the reassessment — that the assessment was too high, they’ll apply the change to all people in that level. So, if you aren’t able to appeal it, but somebody in your level is able to, you’ll be credited.”

Re-evaluations by the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency are currently underway in La Ronge.
