The Office of the Treaty Commissioner and the City of Regina’s partnership known as Reconciliation Regina flew flags adorned with the Treaty 4 emblems to honour the signing of the treaty on this day in Fort Qu’Appelle in 1874.

“Raising Treaty 4 flags on Albert Street honours the contribution Indigenous people have made to the building and shaping of Regina,” says Regina Mayor Michael Fougere.  “Regina is located on Treaty 4 land and within the traditional territory of the Métis.”

“The intent of the Treaties was to create and foster mutually beneficial arrangements that pursue and promote relationships based on friendship, peace, and goodwill,” emphasized City Officials.

The Reconciliation Regina committee states that it’s working on a Community Action Plan to achieve a living process of reconciliation.
