The Indigenous Relay Challenge is returning to Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Prince Albert today.

Races start at 11:30 a.m., and will feature teams of ten competing in nine legs of relay racing. Segments of the race will feature footraces, with weights across the racers back, canoe racing and even a water boiling competition.

“The relay challenge has different activities in it related to what Indigenous people would have done to survive on the land,” said Indigenous student coordinator, Jennifer Brockman. “It really helps students get to know one another.”

This year’s race will feature eight teams of ten challengers, for a total of 80 racers at the school. One team will even be composed of Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s staff.

The event wraps up around 1:00 p.m. today.
