The remaining wildfire evacuees from Pelican Narrows are being allowed to go home.

Earlier today, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Chief Peter A. Beatty rescinded the evacuation order for health priority (P1, P2 and Prenatals) evacuees and their families from Pelican Narrows.

The band says the decision was made based on the recommendations of the provincial government and its ministries.

Approximately 700 Pelican Narrows residents in these categories remained in Prince Albert and Saskatoon after the general evacuation order was lifted last week.

However, rain and cooler weather have reduced the amount of smoke from the wildfires in the Pelican Narrows area.

Evacuees in Prince Albert with their own transportation are required to check in with the Red Cross at the Waskesiu Room at the Prince Albert Inn for gas vouchers.

Evacuees in Saskatoon with their own transportation are required to check in at the Travelodge for gas vouchers.

The band is promising information and a schedule for those needing to be bussed back to Pelican Narrows will follow.
