A new chief has been elected on Fond-du-Lac Denesuline First Nation.

Chief Louie Mercredi defeated incumbent Rudy Adam to be elected as the band’s new chief at an election this past weekend. Along with the new chief, the council will also see several new faces.

Willie-John Laurent was the lone councillor who was re-elected. Joining Laurent on council is Edward Andrew Isadore, Sabrina Fern, Jake Mercredi, Frederick Martin and Ronnie Augier.

The new chief and council will serve a three-year term.

The results of this election are pending a two-week appeals process.  According to the Chief Electoral Officer no appeals have been made yet.
