National Chief Perry Bellegarde is encouraging Indigenous youth across the country to take to social media this weekend to share how they are connecting to their culture.

The Assembly of First Nations chief says he is putting forward the ‘Culture for Life’ campaign to mark this Sunday’s World Suicide Prevention Day.

He says the campaign is a way to focus on culture as a way to promote life wellness. According to the national chief, he hopes the campaign will shift the focus from suicide prevention to what he calls life promotion.

“We are all on the journey to wellness together,” said Chief Bellegarde in a media release. “Let’s support our languages, let’s support our traditions and let’s support one another in connecting to our cultures.”

Indigenous youth are asked to share their pictures, videos and stories with www.cultureforlife.ca so they can be seen by the public.
