The graduation rate for First Nation and Metis students in Saskatchewan is growing.

According to the latest numbers from the province, Aboriginal students saw graduation rates increase to just over 43% in 2017, up from under 42% the year prior.

Meanwhile overall graduation rates jumped just over one percent from 75%to 76%.

Since 2009 the high school graduation rate for Aboriginal students has increased by over 10%.

In 2013, the provincial government implemented a strategic plan with the hopes of increasing graduation rates in the province to 85 per cent by 2020.

In order for the province to meet their goal Aboriginal high school graduation rates would have to increase significantly more over the next few years.
