RCMP are investigating after a 24-year-old man from the Big River First Nation was hit and killed by a vehicle.

The incident on the reserve happened this morning around 2:30 a.m.

The pedestrian was taken to the Shellbrook hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene until emergency services arrived.

The driver was not injured and no charges have been laid.

Members of the Big River RCMP and a collision reconstructionist from Prince Albert continue to investigate.
