Two people have been taken into custody following an incident in Buffalo Narrows that temporarily led to some evacuations and traffic detours in the northern village.

Over the noon hour, RCMP asked the public to stay clear of the area and to not post photos of the police presence on social media.

There was no imminent risk to public safety, but Mounties were asking residents to follow police instructions.

RCMP say today’s incident ended peacefully, and all evacuated residents are now able to return to their homes.

However, since there is a continued police presence in the area — including police barricades — the public is being asked to respect any barriers until they are fully removed.

The RCMP says it plans to provide more details about the incident, but it likely won’t be until tomorrow.
