*UPDATE – SaskTel cellular service has been restored in Pierceland and the surrounding area.

But SaskTel crews continue to work to restore landline and internet services after a fire completely destroyed a SaskTel building there yesterday.

The utility says “due to the total destruction of the building that will need to be replaced and the extensive technical components that will be need to be installed and connected”, it estimates that it may take five days to fully restore landline and Internet services.

Pierceland and surrounding communities are without landline, internet and cell services because of a fire.

SaskTel says a fire has completely destroyed a small building that services the community.

The blaze was reported Thursday afternoon and the cause is under investigation.

The utility says crews are working to restore service to Pierceland as soon as possible.

But at last word, there was no estimated time of repair.
