The La Ronge 89ers senior hockey team received a big boost to its lineup on Tuesday when the franchise signed former pro player, Jon Mirasty.
“It’s exciting and I like to be competitive,” said Mirasty. “It’s a good opportunity to keep doing what I used to do for a living and at the same time, have a lot of fun.”
Mirasty hails from Meadow Lake and is best known for his physical style of play. He spent time in various pro hockey leagues, like the AHL and KHL in Russia.
Mirasty is expected to make his debut with the 89ers on Saturday at the JRMCC when La Ronge hosts the Big River Braves. Saturday’s game is slated for 8:00 pm.
