People are planning to gather outside a courthouse in North Battleford Thursday, as the man accused in the murder of Colten Boushie is scheduled for an appearance.

The 22-year-old Red Pheasant First Nation man was shot and killed at a farm in the RM of Glendale last week.

54-year-old Gerald Stanley was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Organizers of the gathering say this is not a protest, but a peace gathering to show support for Boushie’s family.

Racist reactions to the shooting online has led to several politicians and First Nation leaders speaking out against the rhetoric.

The RCMP have warned the public that these hateful comments could be criminal.

The gathering is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am outside the courthouse.
