Saskatchewan will begin to feel the effects of the out of control wildfires in Alberta today.

Heavy smoke will be drifting over the province, with areas like La Loche, Beauval and Buffalo Narrows dealing with heavy smoke.

People with respiratory issues are advised to stay indoors.

By this afternoon, the smoke will have drifted all the way to Regina and Saskatoon, which has prompted Environment Canada to issue a special air quality statement.

The fire risk through much of the province remains extreme, but so far everything is under control.

As of this morning, there were 10 fires burning in the province, but only one is listed as out of control.

That fire is in the Buffalo Narrows area.
