The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is the latest jurisdiction to announce a fire ban in northern Saskatchewan.
The ban applies to all six of its reserve communities — La Ronge, Stanley Mission, Grandmother’s Bay, Sucker River, Hall Lake and Little Red.
Burning of all materials is suspended until further notice. All open fires are prohibited, including fire pits, burning barrels and fireworks. Propane barbecues and briquettes are allowed.
Earlier today, the provincial government expanded the ban on all open fires issued last week to include Lac La Ronge Provincial Park and all Crown forest north of the Churchill River.
The original fire ban for the west side of the commercial forest remains in place.
A fire ban is also in place for Prince Albert National Park.
