A call is going out for aboriginal people to attend climate change talks in Saskatoon.

The town hall on Wednesday night is a response to the federal invitation for Canadians to weigh in on their climate future.

Nancy Greyeyes says it’s important to have the indigenous voice heard.

“I push for First Nations input considering that we are supposed to be the keepers of the land and it’s our responsibility. So I try to be involved as much as possible,” she said.

Greyeyes, who has been involved in Idle No More in the past, said she hopes to hear a united voice against the new Liberal government’s changing approach to pipelines.

“It’s like hypocrisy. You say you want to do an election on climate change and yet you want to push pipelines which increases tar sands and oil and gas production. So I think we need to be loud and clear that we need more renewable energy versus more carbon-producing industry,” she said.

The event is at 7:30 p.m. at the St George’s Senior Citizens Club Hall, at 1235 20th St West.

They plan to collect opinions and comment to pass onto the Liberal government.

All local MPs are invited to join, with Saskatoon West’s Sheri Benson already confirmed to join in.
