The latest jobless numbers are out and they show a big jump in the Aboriginal unemployment rate last month.

First Nations unemployment is 25.1 per cent, which is up 1.4 per cent. The Metis rate was 10.7 per cent, up eight tenths of a point.

Provincially the unemployment rate stood at 6.3 per cent – an increase of a tenth of a percent from March but up almost 2 per cent from a year ago.

Nationally, Canada’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.1 per cent.

Saskatchewan has the second lowest unemployment rate in Canada, just behind Manitoba.
